Quensus Named in the InsurTech100 2026

Quensus joins the InsurTech100 2026 list from FinTech Global — one of 100 firms selected from 2,100+ — for LeakNet and prevention-led escape-of-water monitoring for insurers and property teams.

FinTech Global has included Quensus on the InsurTech100 2026, its ninth annual list of companies insurers, brokers and risk teams watch when they are building or refreshing technology strategy. More than 2,100 InsurTech firms were reviewed; 100 made the final cut.

For us, the listing is less about a logo on a slide and more about where the market is heading. Carriers and property owners are under the same pressure on escape of water: losses are large, repeat offenders are expensive to insure, and a leak that runs unnoticed in a void or plant room can do more damage in a weekend than monitoring would cost in a year.

Quensus sits in that space with LeakNet: learning-mode flow monitoring, fast alerts, and shut-off where the project specifies it. We have spent the last decade on that problem with insurers, FM teams and developers - not only mopping up after the event.

How the InsurTech100 list is built

FinTech Global’s researchers and advisory panel score companies on whether the technology solves a real underwriting, claims or loss-prevention headache, and whether it can scale with how carriers actually work. The bar is high because the shortlist is long.

InsurTech is no longer a novelty budget line. FinTech Global’s own market research (cited in the InsurTech100 programme) puts sector size at roughly $21.96bn in 2025, rising toward $30.24bn in 2026. Capital and R&D are flowing to tools that tie physical buildings to evidence insurers can use - especially perils that are frequent, expensive and often preventable before a claim form is opened.

Why escape of water keeps landing on insurer agendas

Escape of water is still one of the messiest property perils on a portfolio: a small split on a flexible, a valve left open after commissioning, or a slow seep behind a ceiling can run for days before anyone sees it. By then stock, finishes, business interruption and reputational damage are already on the table.

The old rhythm - report, adjust, strip out, reinstate, argue about excess - is hard to scale as buildings get more complex and customers expect faster answers. Prevention is not a slogan; it is a different workflow. Establish what “normal” flow looks like, flag when it drifts, and stop water at the meter where the risk profile allows. That is the shift we wrote about in leak detection versus leak prevention, and it is the same shift InsurTech investors are funding.

Vacant and newly handed-over buildings deserve a special mention. Losses in empty schemes can dwarf occupied ones because nobody hears the pipe. Our Handover Vulnerability Gap piece describes that exposure window; winter escapes in vacant new builds shows how quickly it can go wrong in cold weather.

‍

What Quensus brings to InsurTech conversations

We build water monitoring for commercial property, insurance-led specifications, facilities management and other sectors where a pipe event stops operations.

LeakNet learns each site’s water profile, surfaces anomalies quickly, and feeds the alerts and history that risk engineers and FM teams need to act early. Portfolio teams can pull multiple sites into FlowReporter; insurer programmes can align with broker and carrier wording, including work through Aviva Risk Management Solutions.

Hardware on the pipe plus analytics in the cloud is a familiar InsurTech pattern: connect a physical peril to data underwriting and claims teams can trust. Our algorithms started in university research - Dr Dan Simmons’s doctorate work on dynamic-threshold leak detection is now patented and deployed but the test is always the building, not the white paper.

Broader smart water monitoring use cases, from BREEAM-led developments to large estates, are covered on the site. For insurer-specific framing, see proactive water damage prevention for insurers.

‍

“Making the InsurTech100 2026 list is a nod to the team and to every client running LeakNet on a live estate,” says Dr Dan Simmons, Managing Director at Quensus. “Insurers cannot keep absorbing the same escape-of-water losses and hoping pricing fixes it. Shared visibility on flow - and the option to isolate before a ceiling comes down -- is a practical part of the answer. That is the discussion we are having with brokers and carriers, and we are glad FinTech Global put water tech on the map for 2026.”

‍

Where this goes next

Water monitoring is moving from “nice retrofit after a bad year” to something specifiers, insurers and FM teams expect on higher-risk assets - much as fire and intruder systems became baseline decades ago. Being named alongside other InsurTech100 firms is a signal that prevention-led water risk belongs in that same planning conversation.
